triathlon prep, or how i never swam 1500 meters
I started a more thorough preparation for a triathlon in September. This will be my first triathlon ever. I am nervous.
I sent my bike to a shop, it needs a shorter handlebar and repositioned shifters. I got new bike shorts too.
Competitions, and especially bigger ones like full marathons and triathlons, are expensive. Fees are ranging between $100 and $300 depending on the format, size, and popularity. Bikes start at $2000. Swimming wetsuite is at $400-$1000. Plus goggles, a cap, and a buoy for open water practice — another hundred and up. Running… yeah, running is cheap.
Swimming, compared to the other two sports, is what gets me the most. If you throw a kitten in the lake and tell it to swim 1500 meters, it will do a better job than me. My technique is good, but I drink so much water that my body is now 90% chlorine. Hopefully, 7 weeks is still enough to get better.
